Dear Colleague,

GRIDS Research (http://grids.web.ua.pt/) is a group dedicated to the study/development of numerical methods and simulation techniques in engineering, and is integrated in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation, University of Aveiro (www.ua.pt), Portugal. The group is composed by more than 40 members, ranging from seniors professors, assistant professors, research assistants, PhD, graduate and under-graduate research students.

Within the strategy of dissemination of numerical methods formulations and applications in engineering, our group is organising a Summer School on Fracture and Damage Mechanics in Engineering Applications, from August 29th to September 2nd, 2011.

The GRIDS Summer School (GSS2011), to be held at University of Aveiro, Portugal, will be focused on a target audience of young researchers, scholars, master and PhD students aiming for a wider insight and knowledge on ongoing and future trends of these “hot-topics” in numerical simulation. The Summer School will count with a number of high-level invited lecturers, in an informal environment for exchange of ideas and research discussion.

More information on the GSS2011 can be found in the official webpage of the event, at:

http://grids.web.ua.pt/grids_ev_GSS2011.html

and also by means of the flyer attached to the present email.

On behalf of the organisation, we would be very happy if you and/or your students/collaborators could join us in this initiative!

Please, be aware that the number of seats are limited and the deadline for registration is coming, and do not hesitate to contact us (gss2011@ua.pt) in case any further information is needed.

Looking forward to meeting you in Aveiro in August,
