Professor de Engenharia Aeroespacial e Engenharia Mecânica da Universidade do Texas em Austin (UT Austin), catedrático da “Richard B. Curran Centennial Chair in Engineering”, o Prof. Carey especializou-se no uso de métodos computacionais em engenharia e suas aplicações à Mecânica Computacional, utilizando o Método dos Elementos Finitos. Filiado à UT Austin em 1977 pela Cockrell School of Engineering, desde 1984 ocupava o cargo de Diretor do Laboratório de Dinâmica dos Fluidos Computacional, um dos centros filiados ao ICES, Institute for Computational Engineering [...]
A revista Computational & Applied Mathematics, publicada pela SBMAC, terá um número regular, temático, dedicado à Modelagem Matemática e Computacional. Os interesssados em submeter artigos deverão enviá-los, por e-mail, para o Editor Convidado, Prof. Antonio Castelo (castelo@icmc.usp.br) até 15 de julho de 2011.
Este número temático foi motivado por um mini-simpósio homônimo que está sendo organizado por associados da SBMAC no ICIAM 2011 em Vancouver, mas para que se tenha uma abrangência maior serão avaliados, e se aprovados publicados, os trabalhos de um número maior de pesquisadores do país e do exterior.

GRIDS Research (http://grids.web.ua.pt/) is a group dedicated to the study/development of numerical methods and simulation techniques in engineering, and is integrated in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation, University of Aveiro (www.ua.pt), Portugal. This 1st International Symposium on Uncertainty Quantification and Stochastic Modeling (Uncertainties 2012) arises from the scientific community’s interest in having a proper forum for discussion of academic, scientific and technical aspects of uncertainty quantification in mechanical systems.
